NAME SUGGESTIVE OF A DEFENDED SITE. FIELD NOW UNDER PERMANENT PASTURE WITH NO PHYSICAL FEATURE INDICATING ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE (CPAT site visit, 1978). NAME MAY REFER TO OVERLOOKING ENCLOSURE PAR 969. PLANNING APPLICATION MAY 1983 (CPAT archive, 1983).
