Primary Reference Number (PRN) : 01123g
Trust : Glamorgan Gwent
Site Type : Motte
Period : Medieval
Community : Llangwm
NGR : ST42759980

Summary :
Phillips notes that the earthwork at Llangwm Uchaf comprises a very low motte (max. height 1.52m and a top surface area of 274.532m²) situated within a location of good natural defences (apart from the north side). He interprets it as a possible motte and bailey of unknown date due to limited and contradictory evidence available; the theory that it is a watch-tower with a limited directional advantage is also noted (Phillips 2004).
